The Seven Energies

Orange

Primary attribute: celebration

Other attributes: ritual, ceremony, triumph, praise, festivity, gratitude

On the evolutionary path, you have come through the challenge and feel an outpouring of energy and thankfulness to celebrate your success. Like red, orange is energetic, but it is a more refined aliveness than the instinctual red vitality, and has overtones of joy and gratitude. It is dancing and singing rather than struggling and fighting. Play orange music to get a quick energy boost.

The dark version of orange symbolizes rigid formality.

Relevant composer: George F. Handel. Handel was a master of expressing orange energy in music, and many of his best-known works have this energy. As a composer to royalty in the English court he had much practice in producing fanfare and music of kingly homage and reverence. The power of many of these works is further enhanced by being written in the key of D major. The Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah is an example.
